The Brazilian to debut in the WS 3.5 alongside Amberg, as team completes 2012 driver line-up

PONS Racing and Yann Cunha will campaign together the 2012 World Series 3.5 by Renault, in what will be the maiden season of the Brazilian driver in the series.

Yann Cunha has been successfully testing with the team in the recent session at Motorland Aragón, and will race alongside Zoël Amberg at the wheel of the cars entered by PONS Racing, one of the leading squads in the World Series 3.5 since 2004, in the next two years.

Yann Cunha, a Brazilian 20-year-old driver also holding French and Portuguese citizenships, has made his single-seater debut in Europe in 2011, after a brilliant career in the South-American F3, where he was Rookie of the Year in 2009 and Champion in 2010. In 2011, Cunha has contested in the British F3 Championship and in some rounds of the European F3 Open, where he clinched one win at Portimão.

Swiss driver to make his debut in the WS 3.5 next year

Zoel Amberg joined the team in the recent testing session at Motorland Aragón, and both parties were positively impressed with the work done together.

Despite his young age (19), Zoel Amberg can claim significant achievements in his single-seater career, which started in 2009. A Champion of F.Renault 2.0 Switzerland in 2010, the Luzern-resident driver has been also a race winner in the F.Abarth that same year. In 2011, he raced in GP3 and in the final stint of the European F3 season, where he clinched a win in Barcelona and three other podium positions.

PONS Racing will announce shortly the rest of its 2012 driver line-up.

Pons Racing and Emilio de Villota Jr will join forces in the World Series by Renault.

Young Emilio de Villota Jr, responsible of the teams of the ex F1 driver Emilio de Villota in the European F3, Euroseries F3000 and Superleague championships, becomes the new Team Manager of the team of the two time 250 cc World Champion Sito Pons.

With this new agreement, Pons Racing, the highly regarded motorsport team also involved in the Moto2 World Championship, will strength its organisation in order to search for victory in the World Series by Renault 2012.

The “Circuit de Catalunya”will hold the last round of the championship next 8th and 9th of October. This event will be the debut of Emilio de Villota Jr. as new Team Manager, in order to start preparing the 2012 season.

Pons Racing today announced the signing of young English driver Oliver Web to race in its team in the 2011 World Series by Renault championship.

The 19-year old driver from Manchester comes to the World Series by Renault after a highly successful season in 2010 racing in the British F3 championship where, in only his first year, he finished 3rd, scoring an impressive 3 race wins and 14 podiums.

Pons Racing is a team headed by former double World Motorcycling Champion Sito Pons. Participating in its eighth year of competition, the team has scored a total of 12 race wins and 32 podiums including overall victory in both the driver and team classification in 2004 with driver Heikki Kovalainen.

The World Series by Renault FR3.5 has become established as a highly prestigious single-seater racing series. With teams competing in 3.5 litre Renault-powered Dallara racing cars producing 425bhp, the championship has consolidated itself as a springboard for young drivers into Formula 1. The likes of Fernando Alonso, Heikki Kovalainen, Robert Kubica, Jaime Alguersuari and current F1 World Champion Sebastien Vettel have all previously competed in the World Series by Renault. In 2011 the championship will consist of 9 round, visiting the following legendary circuits: Motorland, Spa, Monza, Monte Carlo, Nurburgring, Hungaoring, Silverstone, Paul Ricard and Barcelona.
